Our April Scavenger Hunt for children celebrates that spring is here, and the wildflowers of Pennsylvania are blooming. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

THE FINE PRINT: Scavenger hunts are available anytime the library is open. We ask that children only complete one hunt per month.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

We started a mini-food pantry in the vestibule of the main library entrance: please help yourself to anything during library hours. Donations of non-perishable food items are welcome.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Hub, Careerlink of Blair County’s afterschool program for teens comes to the library twice a month. On Tuesday, April 14th and 28th from 3:00-4:30 on both dates, teens can learn job-ready skills via fun activities. Mock interviews, resume games, meet-ups with local businesses, and free snacks! Any student in grades 6-12 is welcome.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Local Artist Denice Rodaniche presents a free course on drawing birds Tuesday, April 21st at 1:30 PM. If you are new to drawing, we welcome you to come and \u201cwing it!\u201d Materials provided.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Kids and adults alike are invited to join local snake owner, Adam Bonsell for a live snake exhibit on Wednesday, April 22nd at 6 PM. Learn about the care of pet snakes and snakes of Pennsylvania alike. Adam is an expert on all of them. There will be live snakes at this presentation.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

It’s paper. It’s seeds. It’s paper AND seeds! Families are invited to make paper that can grow plants at a special craft workshop on Thursday, April 23rd at 6 PM with our CEO of Fun, Miss Alex!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Hop to it! It’s time for Club Lego! Kids ages 5 and up are invited to join us for an evening of Lego freestyling on Thursday, April 9th and 23rd from 6-8 PM on both dates. No sign ups are needed, but we ask that a grown-up stay in the library while children build.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Juniata Valley Audubon Society presents a family birding walk on the Logan Valley Streetcar Trail on Saturday, April 25th at 9:15 AM. Meet at the library and take a short guided walk on the new trail, looking for Pennsylvania birds.
This program is for all ages. Bring binoculars if you have them, but they are not mandatory.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Chapters & Chat Book Club meets at the library on Monday, April 27th at 6 PM. This month’s title is Before the Coffee Gets Cold<\/em> by Toshikazu Kawaguchi. In a narrow back alley in Tokyo lies a caf\u00e9 called Funiculi Funicula. In the caf\u00e9, customers have the opportunity to travel to a time of their choosing, as long as they follow a long list of rules. What will customers of the cafe find in the past? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

New members are always welcome at Chapters & Chat. Purchase the book from your favorite bookseller or ask at the checkout desk for an interlibrary loan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Family Fun Nights are on a new day and time: families are invited to join us Thursday evenings on April 16th and 30th at 6 PM on both dates for stories, activities, crafts, and surprises!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No sign-ups are needed for Family Fun Night, but children under the age of 5 will need help from an adult or older sibling to complete craft activities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Family Fun Night is optimized for children ages 3 and up: younger children are welcome, but will need help from a grown-up or older sibling to do activities. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Release the wiggles at Toddler Tuesday, a special toddler sized, toddler friendly storytime with lots of songs, dancing, and the kind of silliness you can only get from a trained professional librarian!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our next Toddler Tuesdays are every Tuesday at 6:30 PM from May 5th through June 16th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Toddler Tuesday is for children ages 18 months-3 years. New families are always welcome. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

We present a PAWS to Read session on Saturday, May 9th from 10:30-11:30 AM. Kids will meet and read to an adoptable cat friend from the Central PA Humane Society. Reading to animals is an ideal way for children who may struggle with reading to build skills while hanging out with a non-judgmental animal friend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This program is for children ages 5 and up: we ask that a parent or caregiver stay with their child during the program.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

What’s poppin’ at the library? Lynn Dalby Designs joins us on Thursday, May 14th at 6 PM to teach families the secrets of bubble magic in a hands on workshop for parents and children ages 4 and up. Learn how to make giant bubbles, touchable bubbles, and more!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The library\u2019s ongoing costume jewelry sale is your one stop shop for affordable bling! We have vintage pieces, signed pieces, and as-is odds and ends ideal for crafters. All jewelry is for sale for a freewill donation. Shop anytime the library is open: 1-8 PM Monday-Thursday and Saturdays from 9 AM-2 PM.
